Kadai Paneer- Restaurant Style



Paneer is always my favourite. I usually hunt for different paneer recipes often. This one I am sharing is the one I found from a cook book. It turned out pretty good for me. For all the vegetarians out here!!!! Paneer is such a dish which complements with red meat. It is rich with proteins which is really good for health. So here goes the recipe...

Ingredients
For kadai masala:-
Cumin seeds/Jeerakam- 1 tsp
Pepper- 4-5 nos
Dried red chilli- 3 nos
Corriander powder- 2 tsp

For onion tomato puree:-
Onion- 2 medium chopped
Tomato -1 medium chopped
Garlic- 5-6 pods
Ginger- 1 small piece
Almonds/ Cashews- 8 nos
Red chilli powder- 1 tbspn
Turmeric powder- 1 tsp
Salt- as per taste
Oil- 1 tsp

For kadai paneer:-
Paneer- 250 gms
Onion- 1 chopped big
Capsicum- 1 chopped big
Kasuri methi- 1 tsp
Cream- 3 tbspn
Garam masala- 1 tsp
Water- 1 cup
Oil- 1 tsp

Method
1. Dry roast all ingredients listed under kadai masala except corriander powder and move to a blender and add corriander powder
2. In a pan, add oil and saute ginger and garlic. Once it changes colour, saute onions and tomatoes well.
3. Add in almonds and spice powders. Cook till tomatoes are mushy and oil leaves the sides
4. Cool it completely and move it to a blender and puree smooth
5. In a kadai heat oil and saute onions and capsicum ( don't overcook veggies needs to be crunchy)
6. Add in kadai masala and mix well. Add onion tomato puree and mix well. Add water as per required consistency. Close it and cook for 5 minutes
7. Add in  paneer cubes and mix gently. Finally add garam masala, kasuri methi and cream
8. Serve hot

Now towards step wise illustrations

Dry roast red chillies, pepper and cumin seeds 

Add in corriander powder and blend to a coarse powder 

Kadai masala ready!! Set aside 

Heat oil in a pan and saute ginger and garlic 

Add in onions and saute well 



Add in tomatoes and cook well 

Add in almonds and mix well 

Add in salt 

Cook till tomatoes are mushy and oil leaves the sides 

Cool completely and move to a blender. Puree smooth (forgot to take pics) 

Heat oil and saute onions 

Add in capsicum as well  

Add in kadai masala  

Add in onion tomato puree 

Mix well 

Add water as per consistency 

Close with a lid and cook for 5 minutes 

Add in cubed paneer 

Add in garam masala 

Add in cream 

Add in kasuri methi leaves 

Serve hot
