Flower Potato Samosa



This is actually an extension of normal samosa. The stuffing is the same. The only difference is the shape. I happened to watch a video that shows flower samosa making. I wanted to try it out and was quite tensed about the output. However it turned out well in my kitchen. It was pretty easy and soon I will share the basic samosa recipe. The main ingredient is potato and it has only mild flavours. If you have immediate guests around, you can try it out. It will take only limited time and it is also a perfect snack recipe flor kids as well. I love it and I am sure you will also love it.Here goes the recipe....

Ingredients
From dough:-
All purpose flour- 1 1/2 cup
Fennel seeds- 1 tsp
Water- 1/2 cup
Salt- as per taste
Oil- to drizzle

For stuffing:-
Potatoes- 2 large
Red chilli powder- 2 tsp
Turmeric powder- 1 tsp
Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
Garam masala- 1 tsp
Salt- as per taste
Cumin seeds- 1 tsp
Mustard seeds- 1 tsp
Oil- for frying+ 1 tsp for tempering 

Method:-
1. Boil, peel and mash potatoes. Heat oil in a pan and sparkle cumin seeds and mustard seeds.
2. Add in spice powders and mashed potatoes and final mix. Keep aside
3. Take flour, fennel seeds, oil and water to knead a soft dough
4. Roll it out and slice the edges.
5. Fold it in square. Reverse it and place the stuffing in
6. Seal the edges and invert the petals.
7. Heat oil in a kadai and deep fry the samosas.
8. Enjoy hot with ketchup and tea.

Tip:-
You can add chopped onions and corriander leaves if you like. 

Now towards step wise illustrations

Take all purpose flour in a bowl 

Add in salt 

Add in fennel seeds 

Rub it well with your hands 

Add in water 

Knead it 

Drizzle some oil and set aside 

Boil the potatoes 

Peel it 

Slice it 

Mash it up roughly 

Heat oil and splatter mustard seeds and cumin seeds 

Add in red chilli powder 

Add in corriander powder 

Add in potatoes 

Add in turmeric powder and garam masala 

Add in salt 

Mix well 

Now take dough on to working surface 

Take lemon sized ball out of it. Dust it 

Start rolling 

Cut the edges and make a square 

Fold it like this 

Invert it carefully 

Place spoonful of filling in 

Fold one side back like this 

Like wise fold the other side as well 

Seal the sides  carefully 

Now invert the petals back carefully 

Done!!!!!

All done similarly 

Heat some oil in a kadai 

Drop the samosa in 
 Serve hot
